What is the WAYMO Project?

WAYMO stands for What Are You Made Of? which is the title of my upcoming children’s poetry book. The book contains 21 poems about the components of the body, what they do, and how they work together. Its aim is to foster health literacy among young children through the engaging medium of rhyme.

The WAYMO Project is an extension of the messages in my book. I want these messages about health and the human body to reach all children in Aotearoa New Zealand. Health literacy starts early. Having attended a low-decile primary school myself, I have seen first-hand the difference that donated books can make to a whole school library and its students.

I wanted to give people the opportunity to feel that they are making a difference to the medical learning of children in schools like mine. The WAYMO Project provides the opportunity for anyone to pay for a copy of What Are You Made Of? to be donated to a low-decile New Zealand primary school.

It’s simple. In my online bookstore, select the item named “What Are You Made Of? Donation Copy.” Add it to the cart, along with any other items you wish to purchase. When you proceed to checkout, you will be asked whether you wish for your name to be credited on the inside cover of the donated book, or prefer to remain anonymous. After completing the checkout, you will be sent a separate email with a digital certificate and updates on when and where the book has been donated.

My goal is to donate 100 books by the end of 2022. Will you help me?
