I’m Presenting In The Blackbird Protostars Season 1 Exhibition!

I will be doing the first live reading of What Are You Made Of? at the Blackbird Protostars Season 1 Exhibition on February 9th, 2022, 7pm NZT (5pm AEDT). The Zoom exhibition is free to attend, and will feature a selection of fellow Blackbird Protostars with a wide range of fascinating passion projects.

What is the Blackbird Foundation Protostars Program?

Creativity is the meta skill, the building block for progress and innovation.
The Blackbird Foundation‘s mission is to unleash creativity in young people.

Enter the Blackbird Protostars, wild hearts in pursuit of their passions.

The Protostars program finds young people with passion projects and supercharges their work with belief, community, and funding.

I was incredibly lucky to be one of the first 26 Blackbird Protostars. This program, and the people in my cohort, have taught me so much. It wasn’t just about the passion project grant (though it means a lot to a university student trying to self-publish her second book). The program surrounded me with like-minded young creatives and innovators from across Australia and New Zealand, and every Zoom left me feeling invigorated and inspired by what I saw others like me achieving.

Joel from Blackbird has been simply amazing. He believed in my passion project when it was nothing more than a late-night submission, and has given countless little pointers to help me shape my project along the way. Thanks to him, I felt brave enough to start an Instagram account and website to share my books and poetry with the world. Thank you, Joel!
